If you have any doubts that skiing is something more (much more!) than a sport, read this book. You will thus sink into a fairy world, into a feeling of widespread happiness, made of love for the snow, for your skis, for your backpack and your equipment. No one like Dieterlen managed to bring to life this profound joy imbued with romanticism and nostalgia.
Jacques Dieterlen published The Romanesque Cathedral in 1926. The absence of his right arm does not prevent him from being a passionate skier, a sport he puts into literature in The Skier in the Moon (1933), Cyprian or the Skier in the Sun (1935) and Son of the Snow (1936). In 1920 he founded the Revue du ski, which he edited until 1939. He directed the series La Vita in montana, where he published Skiing in spring (1937) and The mountain path (1938).
