Parco Regionale Fluviale Stirone

The territory of the Stirone Regional River Park occupies a hilly area between the provinces of Piacenza and Parma and is of great interest from a geological and paleontological point of view due to the abundant presence of fossils. Walking along the banks of the watercourse, in the thick shade of willows and poplars, is a bit like visiting an open-air museum where fossils tell the story and evolution of the landscape. Among the many birds that frequent the park it is possible to meet the mouse and the bee-eater who build their nests by digging the sandy banks of the river. Moving away from the water, the hills of the park are covered in oak groves where wild orchids bloom.
