Escursioni, Lagorai

Lagorai is a mountain range of volcanic origin, which extends for approximately 50 km between Val di Fiemme and Valsugana, separating the Trentino Dolomites from the Venetian Prealps. It occupies a very vast territory, which retains highly natural characteristics and brings together elements of great interest from a geological, botanical and faunal point of view. It is therefore considered one of the most precious environments in the eastern Alps. Magnificent coniferous forests are crossed by numerous streams, while at the highest altitudes, among boundless slabs of porphyry rock, blue lakes reflect the color of the sky. The fir trees, larches, pine trees, rhododendrons, dwarf azaleas, soapworts and glacier buttercups accompany the hiker as he climbs towards the crests and peaks of Lagorai. Here live deer and black grouse, white partridges and chamois, marmots and eagles, and even the lynx, a beautiful feline that chose Lagorai as the first stop on its return to the Alps. The guide therefore illustrates numerous itineraries, focusing on the description of the environmental characteristics, but also on historical and ethnographic aspects. In fact, the events of history offer further reasons of interest for these excursions: from the camps of Mesolithic hunters to the mines of the Middle Ages, from the work of woodcutters and shepherds up to the tragedy of the Great War.
