Escursioni in Val Grande Parco Nazionale

After seven centuries of intense exploitation of the mountain pastures and woods, in the post-war period Val Grande regained possession of its lost "wildness". However, many traces of the ancient paths remain and the pulsating testimonies of the work of the mountaineers and woodcutters, framed by a grandiose, austere and rewarding landscape. The guide describes 15 itineraries and treks with a series of variations. Ample space is dedicated to in-depth analysis of the long history of Val Grande and its actors: mountaineers, woodcutters, hermits, smugglers, precursors of industry, people from Verbano and Ossola, explorers and partisans.
