Who says that to experience the true emotions of the mountains, those that can only be had away from the crowds, you necessarily have to face long and tiring climbs? In the Dolomites there are ski lifts in operation in the summer period which allow you to reach high altitude refuges from where you can enjoy magnificent views, and which can also be used to arrive quickly and effortlessly in "large" mountain environments, from where you can leave for itineraries that would otherwise be too long and tiring and reserved for a few well-trained hikers. And the same paths that lead back to the valley floor are almost always little frequented. From this perspective we can also look at public transport, which efficiently serves many areas of the Dolomites, or shuttle services which in some locations allow you to return to the starting point of a long crossing without having to use your car. This book suggests some of these itineraries distributed throughout the Dolomite region, from Brenta to the Carnic Ridge. Some are easy and short, others - despite everything - put even trained hikers to the test. It is an invitation to consider facilities and public transport with the aim of hiking, and not just obvious panoramic tourism. The proposal is not a blow to the poor health of the environment; it does not concentrate a greater number of tourists in areas which are already compromised, but suggests new possibilities for hikers who certainly love and respect the mountains: possibilities that are perhaps just around the corner, but are often overlooked.
