La vita sui monti e sui laghi nelle stampe del XIX secolo

In this series of Alpine culture, a volume that "illustrated" the life of nineteenth-century man (and his environment) could not be missing. Even if the images proposed, the result of careful selection, are to be seen in their precise historical moment and if the authors were almost always more "tourists" than mountaineers, these have, amalgamated together, the sense of the story with its visualization, which not even the looming photographic image was able to borrow. A craft, as precise as it was free of superstructures, allowed unknown craftsmen as well as well-known masters to create these and all the other plates of eighteenth-nineteenth century iconography, with that descriptiveness (albeit here and there with some romantic flourishes) that still today represents a unique and irreplaceable tool for research and reconstruction. All this adds up to an extraordinary charm.
