La frontiera invisibile

“If we don't dream, we are dead.” This is the motto of Kilian Jornet, the young Catalan skyrunner who on 21 August 2013 set the new record for ascent and descent of the Matterhorn: 2 hours and 52 minutes to touch the sky and come back. For Kilian the mountain represents the greatest dream but, as he tragically learned, it can also turn into the worst of nightmares. In fact, during a crossing of Mont Blanc, Kilian lost his teacher, his idol, his best friend. And his world fell apart. In the period that followed, made up of many questions, doubts and questions about what he was doing, he developed a new project, designed to test himself once again, to test the boundary between courage and recklessness, to truly understand himself and the meaning of his undertakings. The project involves climbing one of the highest peaks in the Himalayas, Gosainthan, on the border between China and Nepal. There are only three of them, for an impossible adventure. A winter expedition, without ropes, armed only with a pair of skis, some supplies and a tent. This book tells of that journey, which is at the same time a search, an escape, a moment of knowledge, an encounter with distant places and people and with the deepest corners of oneself.
