Or when in Bolivia you are tempted by the idea of running across the Salar de Uyuni, an immense salt desert over three thousand meters above sea level, where the effort is framed by an infinite expanse of white, in which the sun is reflected causing any reference to be lost. But what triggers Nico is not only the search for the extreme feat or a new record, like the one set by conquering the 4,810 meters of Mont Blanc after setting off by bike sixteen hours earlier from the beaches of Genoa. For him every challenge, like every journey, represents first of all a continuous competition with himself and with his own ability to endure. Because when tiredness takes over every single muscle and sleep seems to anesthetize any desire to reach the finish line, to move forward, despite everything, you must like what you are doing. And the adventures of Nico Valsesia demonstrate that fatigue is truly a foreign land only until you really get to know it. Until you realize that the map to cross it is drawn inside you.
