Il Tratturo e la Via Appia Antica

The itinerary followed by Sante Cutecchia, almost a training journey through memory and history, is also a journey with intimate connotations, a journey within himself, in search of the profound bond that makes him close to the land in which he was born, is as he grew up, he knotted the threads of emotional relationships and his own relationship networks. A journey that the author conducted with some essential support elements, covering partly on motorbike and partly on foot the one hundred and twenty-two kilometers of sheep track, of which he reconstructed the route, no longer visible in many points, distorted by asphalted roads, put under cultivation, from quarries and abandoned military areas, yet still recognizable through the guidance of historical texts and documents and the identification of signs testifying to the articulated route of the via regia and the secondary road network connected to it: what remains of ancient posts, border stones and residual dry stone walls, votive pillars, water sources and refreshment points. A fragmentary whole that Cutecchia tries to recompose in its complexity, interpreting it through the lens of the camera.
