Naufragio sul Monte Bianco

Christmas 1956. Trapped by the storm together with the famous Walter Bonatti, Francois Henry, 23 years old, and Jean Vincendon, 24 years old, end up finding themselves alone, lost at 4000 meters above sea level on Mont Blanc. After ten days of confusion and suffering, after Lionel Terray, "hero of Annapurna", tried in vain to reach them by land with a rescue team of volunteers, the two "castaways" were abandoned in the wreckage of a helicopter which he crashed near them while attempting a desperate maneuver. The rescuers promised to return... "These guys were mocked by fate"... A comment by the rescuer Honoré Bonnet, sums up well the relentless chain of errors, weaknesses and misfortunes that fueled one of the greatest tragedies of mountaineering .
