Geografie interrotte

In every territory there are places that escape the traditional classification of Andrea Marini inhabited structures. These are marginal realities which are conventionally called "abandoned places". These spaces are characterized by a sort of design suspension that slowly alters their appearance, condemning them to deterioration and oblivion. Given the increasingly evident and intrusive presence of these "interrupted places", the volume seeks to clarify the reasons for their emergence and spread, so as to grasp their complexities, but also the opportunities for reflection and intervention that they can offer. The analysis of these areas highlights the global processes of uprooting and cancellation of identities that have involved territories and landscapes for centuries, especially in mountain areas, and which determine the increasingly widespread phenomena of planned obsolescence of places, unlimited exploitation of resources environmental and land consumption. It is therefore starting from the examination of the delicate relationships between man and the Alpine territory that the question of abandoned landscapes is investigated on a geographical, historical and philosophical level, so as to lay the foundations for a radical rethinking of the sense of places and of living in a cultural and ecological perspective that is not only conservative, but coexistant and participatory.
